Trump again came to Turtle Bay to defend sovereignty. Only this time, he tried to dictate terms to the world.

Diplomats and heads of state from all over the world laughed at President Donald Trumps boast that he has accomplished more than any administration in the history of our country. At the podium of the United Nations General Assembly, Trump took it on the noseDidnt expect that reaction, but thats OKand then sleepily delivered a bellicose, 35-minute presentation of international cooperation as a threat to America.
Last year, Trump gave a #MAGA rally-caliber speech defending sovereignty that echoed one of Vladimir Putins General Assembly addresses. This time, Russia received a single throwaway reference, but otherwise, Trump intensified the sovereignty theme on Tuesday morning, as promised by his senior officials, contrasting independence with global governance, control and domination.
Much as Trump has equated immigration with an invasion, now multilateral institutions are coming for the sovereignty that Trump portrayed as the wellspring of human achievement.
At the heart of Trumps speech, and his vision of global affairs more broadly, was a politics of dominance, one that expresses its agenda by locating it in its enemies. Dont tell America what to do, Trump said, because every nation has a right to pursue its own customs, beliefs and traditions. The United States will not tell you how to live or work or worship.
Everywhere Trump looked, he saw global avarice encircling to choke the life out of America.
That comes as news to the vast majority of the world over the past century, which has grown accustomedthough not acquiescentto the U.S. throwing its massive power and influence around, often violently. Thats particularly true in what Trump has referred to as shithole countries. At one point, when Trump attacked socialisms oppression, the United Nations webfeed camera showed two Swedish diplomats cocking their heads in amused bewilderment.

(11,885 posts)But they all are laughing at him now, and he again has made a fool of himself on the international stage for all to see for themselves what an incompetent fool looks like. He then realizes they're laughing at him, then after claimed it was planned that way. Sure it was, coming from The Lying King of this country. He thinks if he wants to believe something enough he can make enough people to believe all his BS propaganda he repeats often enough he can make himself look smart. Its clearly another badly miscalculated mistake on trumps part. He really looks stupid, and can barely speak coherently, and his vocabulary level in fourth or fifth grade level , and he still thinks he's smarter than everyone else. He's a bad joke that needs to end soon. He'll be forced to resign with everything they'll have on him.

(15,236 posts)When you break down most of what Trump says on any subject they are either insults, complaints, or just outright hyperbolic bragging. He got caught this time in dozens of human languages in real time. It would take a master linguist to compose such a joke, Trump is the joke.
