Mrs. Kavanaugh looked at her husband as he talked with a dutiful submission, as if under control to not speak. He even answered a question asked of her as she looked on with a controlled look on her face.

Take the children...ruin their reputation...no money because they "stay at home usually" and verbally and often physically abuse them knowing they are a prisoner and can't get away. A public official is worse, because they have many acquaintances that are public, also.

A steep price is paid...one way or another. And wives want to protect their children from all of the above. IOW...what stays in the home NEVER gets out. The children know this and go on to be a participant in the same kind of relationship. Any family psychologist will corroborate this pattern. It's called The Pattern of Violence. Social workers DO NOT WANT TO GET INVOLVED. Why? There isi NOTHING they can do.
