Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine), one of the deciding Republican votes on the Senate Judiciary Committee, says she’s digging into allegations that Brett Kavanaugh may have facilitated and participated in gang rapes. The bombshell revelations and the identity of the accuser, Julie Swetnick, were released on Twitter Wednesday morning by her lawyer Michael Avenatti.

According to Politico congressional reporter Burgess Everett, Collins said she reviewing Avenatti allegations and taking them “very seriously.” Collins told him that she wants the hearing to go forward and isn’t sure the Senate could be voting on Kavanaugh over the weekend.

She wants to be a loyal Republican. When the atmosphere surrounding Kavanaugh becomes too toxic for her to handle, Kavanaugh is D.O.A. in the Senate. She's not there yet, and she hopes to never get there, but I think she may be starting to "cough" a little.
