Asking people to accept that women don't report sexual assault is one thing, and understandable. Plenty of evidence of this.

Expecting people to believe there are groups of men gang raping scores or women at a school or university and it all stayed secret stretches the bounds of credulity.

That's why its easy for people on the right to believe this is all a sham - it started with one private letter alleging being drunkenly groped and now has morphed into allegations of gang rapes. While this all may be true, its not difficult to understand why people of the other political stripe aren't buying into it.
