while there is not a Statute of Limitations for a criminal charge, as best I can tell from quick internet research the statute of limitations for a civil case for assault in Maryland is one year.

judges are immune from liability for monetary damages for acts they perform pursuant to their judicial function. This means that a judge has immunity for acts relating to cases before them, but would not enjoy immunity for acts that are unrelated to the performance of their judicial functions.

for things they do outside the courtroom. (Lawyers can't be sued for things they say or file in court, either).
