A well educated lady with four degrees - an undergraduate one, two Masters and a PhD - a graduate researcher linked to one of the most prestigious US universities doesn't know who assaulted her even when she clearly says that she knew these scumbags.
You run with that fuckers. Please proceed.

(7,142 posts)Here's what today's hearing makes me think of: when Moses was arguing with God trying to convince him not to destroy 2 cities because the people were evil. Moses succeeded in convincing God not to destroy those cities for the sake of 5 good people, if he could find them. Are there 2 good Republicans in the Senate?
No.
Not a one.
Some talk the talk, but none walk the walk.
If Kavanaugh lacks the decency to withdraw his name (and I think he does) he'll be on SCOTUS before the month is out.

The analogy is still valid. There ain't no good ones with R's after their names.

Edward Brooks (?) from Massachusetts rings a bell as being a good Republican senator. That was back in the '60s or so.

(9,090 posts)and the way to bring it all down is for dems/left/liberals to stop blaming fox, the kochs, money, media consolidation, and other symptoms of letting 1500 think tank-coordinated radio stations distort derail and pollute every national discussion aimed at addressing and fixing those problems

(64,413 posts)Those all come to mind for me. They were the moderating influence of whackjobs like Goldwater and light years from the gang they have today.

(62,344 posts)The senators you list and the ones another listed all came from about the same era as Ed Brooks. The point is, It has been a very, very long time since any Repubs cared about the country first.

(64,413 posts)He's the reason why people referred to "fiscal conservative, socially liberal" R's and Rockefeller Republicans.
John was a Senator and was, iirc, Gov. of NY.
I thought of Dirksen and Percy because i'm from IL. We had Dirksen (R), and Douglass (D) and Percy took over when Dirksen retired.
He won a very close race and got some sympathy vote because his daughter had been murdered earlier that same year. He was a big wig at Bell & Howell when that still meant something. But, he was NOT a nujob R. I still wouldn't vote for him today, but he wasn't crazy right.

Don't believe he was ever a senator.
While he had some liberal policies he pure Repub when it came to money.
I don't believe John D. nor John D., Jr. ever held elective office. Nelson was Junior's son.
Nelson was the first big time politician I ever saw in real life - I think he ran for president in 1968 also. I was struck by how small he was.

(15,226 posts)Now there is a Moses anology that may apply. After worshiping the Golden Calf (Trumpian symbol) people were condemned to wander in the wilderness for 40 years. May it be a similar time span that Republicans actually win the popular vote.
The analogy with God and Lot works better.

(37,648 posts)I thought they had followed me from outside. When I called police, the dispatcher's first question was, "How were you dressed?"
When I told the same attempted break-in story at work, one of my attorney bosses asked, "How were you dressed?"
As if trying to say that if I was dressed sexy or like a prostitute, that warranted an attempted break-in. They're always looking for an excuse to let the perp off the hook.
For the record, I was wearing normal fitting jeans, tennis shoes, and a faded red GAP t-shirt that was very loose and went from my neck to mid-thighs. About as unsexy as you could get.
