(2,380 posts)No matter what happens there are tens of thousands of women watching this and they'll have something to say about this travesty at the midterms.

(2,590 posts)They didn't. I hope the view is a little clearer now to those women who threw in with the rethugs and Dumpster fire.

(715 posts)PUTIN!!! Don't get it twisted; there's a perfectly understandable reason that sumbitch is stinking up our capital AND why there are so many "surprising" lopsided democratic victories in cities, counties & states in which the Tangerine Jackass supposedly "won by huge margins.....And that is that HE DIDNT WIN-Tthe vote was HACKED, votes were flipped, changed, people of colour were PREVENTED FROM VOTING through purges, not having enough voting machines in their districts, being told that they were subject to arrest, republcan poll monitors intimidating voters...etc
AMERICA repudiated Dump, PUTIN PUT HIM IN THE WHITE HOUSE!!!!

(44,988 posts)She might come back more aggressive, if Republicans let her back at all.
Maybe we'll get Grassley in a wig, raging his head off.
Oh the handwringing and yelling going on in Republican chambers must be crazy insane.
Please there must be an aide or some good soul who could record it on their iphone.

(2,187 posts)I don't blame her for being there - I lay the blame at the feet of that geriatric, misogynous and rather homogenous bunch of elderly senators, where it belongs.

(7,402 posts)She went after Dr. Ford hard on fear of flying and Don Jr. Also hit her hard on that in a Tweet. Yes, tone of voice is fine. The line of questions has next to nothing to do with the allegation of sexual assault. Indeed it is a series of gotcha questions looking solely to trip her up and it has failed.

(13,877 posts)But few are not willing to get on a plane for their grandmother's funeral. Many fear flying, but if their job requires it, they deal with it. What a Crock. I was what we used to call a "White knuckle flyer", but I went to see my family on a 4 hour flight at least 2-3 times a year.

she's had little time to prepare
she has her own reputation to consider and thus isn't going to go full attack dog
Dr. Ford is a strong witness
the every five minutes break is not conducive to an effective cross examination

Perhaps its those GOP men who are more to blame.
Sheesh. These days it seems as though its those GOP men who are MAINLY to blame. Lindsey Graham is the current frontrunner in the Asshole of the Day contest.
My husband says since John McCain passed, poor Lindsey has no guardrails anymore. John McCain probably kept his natural tendency to be a complete jerk somewhat reined in. Now we may merely be seeing who the real Lindsey Graham is.

(23,590 posts)Im very sure she had plenty of consultations with the Republican male senators on the Judiciary Committee about what questions to ask and the demeanor she should display.

The female they hired didn't have much time to prepare.

FOX said it was a monumental fail -- but it was Grassley's Republican colleagues who have failed, not Mitchell.

(1,722 posts)Grassley got Dr Ford to agree to go a long stretch without a break until the lunch break, in spite of what he said at the beginning. So now (as I am watching it recorded so running behind), now Rachel Mitchell is working to wear Dr Ford down so she comes across as confused. I am getting furious.

(4,033 posts)Is it me or is he totally destroying himself? He is coming through as furious that anyone would accuse him of anything because he is such a wonderful guy. His anger and arrogance is apalling and ought to disqualify him as a judge anywhere.

(391 posts)He's too angry and sounding like Trump with the conspiracy theories. As he moved past it sounded better but I'm really torn if the tears are real or not. They just seem so awkward and that might help him out.
As for Mitchell, yes it was a mistake for them to hire her but she did exactly what she shouldd have. She needs to go back to being a prosecutor after this, if she came after her she wouldn't be able to do her job anymore so she did the bare minimum she could and not come across badly I really feel bad for her. The GOP has managed to put yet another woman's life in a bad place.
