Kavanaugh's July 1 calendar entry getting more attention. Evan McMullin just tweeted about it.

Kavanaugh’s 1982 calendar details a July 1st drinking gathering at a friend’s house with two people who Dr. Ford alleges were at the gathering she attended. This was hardly addressed today and is all the more reason to do more investigating before a vote.

They don't care about any of this. They are literally ignoring two other accusers.

Meanwhile Al Franken was forced to resign without any investigation.

I felt at the time as if she were about to connect the house events with the maps she had for Dr. Ford. She was getting close to connecting dots and she was pulled before she broke the truth out.

That was it. Mitchell changed the subject.

There were all sorts of ways that Mitchell could have pressed the issue. How, for example, might Ford have been able to identify by name two of Kavanaugh’s close friends if she didn’t know him or had barely met him? Why isn’t it possible that this July 1 get-together was precisely the sort of event at which Ford alleges she was assaulted? That more than remotely fits the allegation? But she didn’t ask.

Mitchell had been stepping in for Republican senators during the day’s questioning, a tactic that helped the majority avoid the spectacle of men grilling a woman about an attack she says she experienced. There was no break in that pattern — until the July 1 question. The next two Republican senators who had the chance to ask questions took that opportunity to make comments of their own.

It says it was at Timmy's house, meaning Tim Gaudette . Kavanaugh explicitely names Gaudette when asked about it during the questioning. If the FBI was allowed to investigate, it would take them about 5 minutes to cross corelate that with real estate deeds in the chevy chase area and find the actual house corroborating the description that Dr. Ford gave.

has online property assessment records you can search by name. In my county's database, you can check owner history, too.

And I doubt he would have submitted the calendar if he knew it was incriminating. It probably happened some other time or at a gathering not noted on the calendar.

that this was THE party? It was a party in the right area at the right general time with the people she named present. The issue examined in this hearing is credibility, after all. Proving guilt would be for a criminal trial.

After police or FBI investigation, of course.

Btw, even though it wasn't hit properly at hearing, this is in the WaPo today. An article, not just an opinion piece or letter. They all read it and know it's being picked up by other media. Wonder what effect it might have?

she saw. Pub or no, Mitchell's ethics and concern for her reputation and career probably did not allow her to continue without following this line of questioning further. Especially given her field of expertise prosecuting sex crimes and family violence.

There are going to be books written on this hearing alone. Imagine her working blind, with no prior investigation and no doubt things that were known kept from her (the "female assistant" ) and coming on this while the nation watched.

Wow.

She was under the impression that republicans wanted to get to the bottom of this and proceeded accordingly. She also wasn't falling for kavenrape's schtick.

She is a prosecutor for sex crimes and recognized the behavior patterns of both Dr. Ford and kavenrape. She wasn't going to let him perpetuate his choir boy act as the rapublicans allowed.
