(46,585 posts)Because we're going to keep asking.
Did Ryan explain his plan to privatize Medicare? I suspect he won't look so good then.

(114,904 posts)and Mitt just sounds awful. Ryan is a better liar than Mitt but that's hardly being "scary good".
Ryan isn't on the top of the ticket.
I'm cognizant that this is full out battle but I'm sure not in the quivering jelly state that you're in.
Atticus
(15,124 posts)The top of the ticket hasn't changed. Mitt ---"Vote for me because I am ______________(fill in whatever you'd like me to be!)"---is still the nominee for president. And, Ryan? If you think he is scary good, you scare way too easily.
The Velveteen Ocelot
(115,659 posts)but he's still a wanker. The fight will consist of advertising the actual contents of his Randroid budget, which is terrifying to almost everybody - no matter how elegantly he tries to misrepresent it. Also, people don't vote for vice presidents - they vote for the top of the ticket. The running mate is merely an advertising stunt.
I think Biden can take him.
And I haven't reached a state of pants-wetting terror just because the "zombie-eyed granny starver" made a better impression on the teevee than Sarah Palin ever did (granted, that's a low bar), nor do I expect to do so.

(46,436 posts)get educated on what he's trying to sell, I think they will be quite turned off.

(130,834 posts)and hope many DO get educated. THAT's the real probem for Dems, imo.
ProSense
(116,464 posts)people shouldn't do: !) Become complacent and 2) Pretend Ryan is a genius or a great communicator.
It should be fairly easy for a politician to sit in front of a complicit media and spew lies. That is what Republicans are good at.
I mean, Romney has already run away from him (yeah, he's flip flopping all over the place) and the WSJ felt the need to come to his defense.

When Ryan promised to eliminate tax shelters for the rich, did that include the Cayman Islands?
Romney claims his tax plan will cut my taxes, Obama says Romney plan will raise my taxes. Given that Romney hasn't been near the truth yet this election, I believe Obama!
Romney says rich people pay most of the taxes in this country. Given that the top 1% controls 42% of the wealth in this country, who else has any money to pay taxes with!
