Ours usually goes pretty fast, but I know many of us aren't so fortunate. I remember hearing about women who stood outside while it was raining in order to vote.

(23,336 posts)That way, I get to read through the proposals in a leisurely manner, with a cup of coffee.
In my state/county/whatever, you can vote absentee (without making up a travel story) if you're 60 years old. I am well past that requirement.

(137 posts)The lines especially on Election Day are going to be historic in my opinion. Not only due to volume but time.

(3,289 posts)The first time I voted, early sixties, we stood, while it was snowing, in the snow for almost an hour before we got to the front of the line. As I recall everyone was friendly although complaining. I was much younger then and thought it was a pretty neat experience. Haven't missed one since..

(4,959 posts)Did it for the primary since I was going out of town. I work 10-12 hrs on Tuesdays so I'm hard-pressed to get up extra early and take the chance of it taking too long.
My work hours qualify me for absentee, and soon my state will (hopefully) be allowing absentee for everyone with no need for an excuse.
I generally enjoy the experience of going to the polls but my work schedule makes it a challenge these days.
