General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI have become FB friends with an extended family member I met through Ancestry.
In this strange, new online world . . .
Anyway, I didn't know what to make of her FB page because it was decidedly apolitical -- so I didn't know what she'd think of mine (the other extreme). Eventually she private messaged me to explain that she's also progressive, but can't go into it on FB because she lives and works in a conservative community.
Today she let me know that more and more her friends are starting to wake up -- and that the hearing yesterday really had an impact. She has friends who had stopped voting who are determined to get registered and vote now. For Democrats.
So Christine Ford may have made more of a difference than she will know.

(61,690 posts)she got registered so she could vote. She grew up in Puerto Rico, and she has displaced family from Maria. But the straw that broke it was the children at the border being separated from parents. She wrote letters to numerous people in DC over this.

(937 posts)In this very red, rural Texas county. Got a call earlier today from a woman who was very angry about the hearings. She said she has never been politically involved, but she's tired of yelling at her TV... She called us to find out how she can help.
I think you're right about the good doctor.

The Genealogist
(4,723 posts)She is a neat lady. She is very active in politics in her area. Since most of the people I am related to are fire breathing wingnuts, she is a breath of fresh air.

(37,648 posts)Although I agree with her, that it's not a good idea to plaster politics all over your FB page if you live in an area that has opposite views. It just makes people hate you.
