Kavanaugh will have significant impact on midterms, says Morning Consult reporter

Morning Consult reporter Joanna Piacenza said on Friday that Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh's confirmation process will have a major impact on November's midterm elections, citing a recent survey from the publication.

"Oh, absolutely," Piacenza told Hill.TV's Joe Concha on "What America's Thinking," when asked whether Kavanaugh would have an effect on Election Day.

"We have been in the field every week judging on whether people want Kavanaugh to be confirmed or not, and the numbers that we are seeing this week are a 5-point drop in net support for Kavanaugh," she continued.

"That's largely driven off of Republicans rescinding their support for confirmation. There's an 11-point drop among Republicans," she said.

The poll was conducted before Kavanaugh's second and third accuser came forward with their claims of sexual misconduct.

It's fucking grotesque the way the US news media refer to "sexual misconduct" when what they're talking about is "sexual assault"; it's just like when they say "racially-charged" instead of "racist". I don't really understand this cowardice and refusal to call things what they are.
