13 amendments l!!!!! Yes I said it right. Will 20 year old be patient enough to stand in line longer then they typically would. Voting went from 5 minutes per person to 15 minutes per person. And of course no added machines or voting places. Sounds like on purpose to me.

So, it's not just GOTV, but about going into the polling place knowing where you stand on the amendments to vote quickly. I had never thought of ballot initiatives and such as being voter suppression techniques, but now you've got me educated on that.

Also, they can leave the initiatives not voted on (blank). There were 19-20 initiatives, they were combined to produce 13. Every voter plays by the same rules, if one accepts your claim of the initiatives suppressing votes, then one must conclude that it suppresses vote uniformly, regardless of political bent.

I strongly suggest that people in Florida early vote at non peak hours (6-8pm on weekdays), or fill out and mail in their ballot immediately, being careful to sign right and do other stuff right. I much prefer in person early voting. I checked my registration status last night, took me 2 minutes.

Let's face it, retired people have all day to get voting done, and younger people who have jobs and kids to raise might not feel they have time to wait in a long line to get into a polling place. The advantage that older people have is even more pronounced in Florida.

Voting starts on Oct 18 and includes one Saturday and Sunday. I suggest that people vote after work (if days) or before work (if nights) during the first 1-4 days of early voting, I find that the line is short. I finish voting in around 7 minutes from walking in to walking out after my ballot is scanned.

There were a lot more of them, something like 19 or 20, several were combined. People don't have to vote on the initiatives.

The two early voting locations that I go to have a minimum of 15 voting booths. The largest of the two has 30-40 booth. I am talking to my very large family, advising them to vote early, that is far faster.

There are some where a vote is for or against two disparate things.

The Amendment text is published at the Secretary of State's office and several other places on like, with the pro and con arguments.

Be aware that there will be Judges on the ballot up for renewal (statewide). Vote NO on both, they are Scott appointed lackeys, he is trying to stack the Florida Supreme and Appeals Courts.

I signed up for absentee this time, partially because I'm leaving on a trip on October 17 and probably won't return until after early voting is finished.

I received a text this morning from Democratic state senator Annette Taddeo's campaign saying my absentee ballot will be mailed out next week. That was appreciated. The local Democrats seem to be a bit more on the ball this time. Donna Shalala candidate for FL-27 contacts me all the time.

One moment they are claiming the voters will punish them if they don't get the nomination through. The next, they are saying voters will punish dems.

Both statements can't be true. If their voters punish them, they aren't punishing dems. Besides, the voters who would be pissed off by his nom failing would NEVER vote for a dem anyway.

Will some gop voters turn out who would have stayed home? We have to assume so and get even more people on our side out.

But if we are smart, we will get them angry at the gop itself, and encourage them to punish republican candidates. That, with an aggressive gotv effort on our side, sounds like fun.

But one thing is certain, you just know the dirty trick squads are looking for republican woman who will be willing to lie about something a dem they went to high school with did something criminal. Be on guard. It is coming. They have money and a lack of ethics. A dangerous combuination.

I read where they said "getting" Kavanaugh confirmed and in the court by the 1st of October would "rally" the base and get them out come election.

I also heard several right wingers on TV today saying the FBI investigation was good, and that they, the republicans on the committee, were "holding" back on that as a bargaining ploy, something they would use to help them if needed. They also said that's why Kavanaugh was keeping that FBI thing in his "quiver" to pull out when needed. Funny how the republicans who were so confident they could ram him through would need to hold and FBI investigation, something they, and trump said could NOT be done, wasn't needed, a waste of time according to Kavanaugh because he already had 6 prior probes, would be holding a probe back because they were going to us it at the last minute!

No matter what happens, trump and the republicans won't admit defeat, they will lie and make up crap to try and make it look like they have everything under control, when in reality the only think they do is make new rules, lie, like, lie, and take credit for things they didn't do while blaming others for the mistakes they make. Remember what trump said about not believing what you see, just believe what he is telling you. Sadly that works with his small base, but not with the rest of the country.

That is why the "no difference between parties" assholes need to stop bashing our party. We need to vote like we are 10 points down, but still think that we can win, in every race. It fucking enrages me when someone on our side meant to vote but frittered away time and did not vote, enough of that and the republican end up winning by 1000 votes, or 150 vote, or 1 damned vote, all because someone could not find 15 fucking minutes free to vote. The deplorables DO NOT MISS A CHANCE TO VOTE. I live in a red county, I see lots of them when I early vote.

If we match their intensity, our superior numbers will crush them.

A substantial number of GOP voters pulled the lever for trump in 2016 simply due to the SCOTUS seat. Had Kavanaugh been seated, there is a good chance they would have stayed home this November. If the seat is held open, they may decide to turn out again. Don't kid yourselves, SCOTUS matters quite a bit to GOPer's.

[link:https://www.vox.com/2018/6/29/17511088/scotus-2016-election-poll-trump-republicans-kennedy-retire|]

One in five voters told CNN in an exit poll that the Supreme Court was one reason they had cast a ballot. Of the voters who said it was the “most important factor” in their decision, 56 percent voted for Trump. According to the Washington Post, 26 percent of all Trump voters polled said that the Supreme Court was the basis of their decision.

If Kav is seated on the SCOTUS in the next couple of weeks, that allows passion to cool down on their side.

However, if Kennedy's seat is still open and vacant, it will indeed be used as gasoline on the fire. A lot of low-information voters may come out of the woodwork. The only thing that will deflate them is if the FBI investigation turns up something that is very damaging to Kav, beyond the ability of Faux Snooze to spin the story.

Besides a couple of RW nuts setting worn-out shoes on fire and posting it on YouTube, nothing came of it. AND Nike’s sales are up. Oops.

If Kavanaugh is withdrawn for being a horrific person, the handful of people who still stand behind Trump are going to go to the polls and vote straight ticket R, but they would have anyway. People not in possession of a red hat very well may vote D when they might have stayed home, just to keep Trump from pulling this again.
