Careful.. Here's how Trump "wins"

1. tomorrow he calls Brett in and tells him to use family turmoil as an excuse..and he removes his name himself.

2. investigation ends..

3. Trump nominates the woman with all the kids. She probably has nothing dirty in her past except for all those diapers

4. Trumpy women LOVE the idea of a woman on the court

5. Her nomination would sail through before the election

But I don’t think it really helps Trump. He’s lost 60% of the country.

This allows him to get rid of Brett without him having to do it and might score him some points with hios female base

2. True, but that assumes that Trump thinks strategically

Actually, it assumes that Trump 'thinks', when really he mostly 'feels'.

And I've seen enough to think that Trump got off his leash at least a year ago. There are no cooler heads in the administration anymore.

So I see the logic in what you are saying, but based on recent past experience, I don't think Trump works that way.

7. I think it also mistakes Trump's motivations

Or what he would consider a “win” He doesn’t really give a shit about the conservative agenda. He cares about his image. He cares about getting revenge if he feels slighted. He cares about consolidating *his* power and feeding his base red meat. He will see this as a slight. Also, he wanted Kavanagh mostly because Kavanagh’s views suggested he would be particularly helpful in fighting back the Mueller investigation. Unless the hypothetical female nominee to the court had been vocally stating for years that Presidents essentially are above the law she won’t serve the purpose Trump has in mind.

4. Of course we should expect that the best outcome would be a right-wing partisan who *didn't* rape...

Just as impeaching and removing Donnie before his term is up only gets us a different right-wing *sshole.

That doesn't mean we shouldn't try, and all of this helps us in November.

Stick to the easy route. They picked Kavanaugh because he checked all the boxes they prioritized. This is viewed as an inconvenience. Kavanaugh is still favored to be confirmed.

That's the way Trump and the right wing are viewing things, while we imagine craziness like Kavanaugh stepping down or his wife divorcing him in embarrassment

Trump hates to lose, more than anything else in the world. By becoming POTUS, he now believes he cannot lose anything important to him.

The only thing that I see taking Kav down is a credible allegation from something in his post-college life.

then maybe.
But as is now, I say this is not possible.
Not from the Trump side anyway.

12. What are the odds of Trump nominating a woman?

I don't care how much the evangelicals want Barrett. Trump would never nominate a woman for the Supreme Court, even if it would be the smart political thing to do.
