Ben Sasse, Deb Fischer remain in Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh's camp

By Joseph Morton / World-Herald Bureau 4 hrs ago

WASHINGTON — Nebraska’s two Republican senators showed no signs Friday that they’re abandoning support for Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

Sens. Ben Sasse and Deb Fischer have declined interview requests and not said explicitly whether they believe the sexual assault allegations that have been made against Kavanaugh.

Sasse, a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, praised Kavanaugh repeatedly before the allegations surfaced and voted Friday to advance his nomination to the full Senate without making any remarks.

Unlike almost every other member of the committee, Sasse declined to speak during the session, even when the panel’s chairman, Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, specifically offered him time to do so.

I have family and friends still there. If those two want to stay senators, they can only vote yes. I know deplorables. Some of my cousins and childhood friends are lock step trumpublicans. If Sasse and Fisher vote no - out of a job and death threats on top of it.
