If Trump is playing games and cuts the investigation short it may permanently cost him Flake's vote. It was clear that Avenatti's client was supposed to be included in the Senate discussions.

put Kavanaugh on the court throughout the government and other institutions hid hundreds of thousands of documents and performed other necessary dirty work, and that the Republicans in the senate have been doing everything they can to rush him onto the court, including refusing investigation of documented malfeasance introduced during the hearing, before information comes out is hardly news.

The most newly outraged and noisy people are so often the very ones who didn't bother to vote or voted spoiler out of ignorance and/or spite. Involved citizens know and assume that by definition these will all be happening because the Republicans have been dirty as a diseased hog farm for a very long time now.
