A prominent Seattle doctor and former Yale classmate of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh alleges he lied under oath to the Senate Judiciary Committee about his drinking habits in college.
Liz Swisher, a UW Medicine professor and director of the Breast and Ovarian Cancer Prevention Program at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, appeared on MSNBC and CNN on Friday.
Theres no problem with drinking beer in college. The problem is lying about it. He drank heavily - he was a partier, Swisher told CNN. He was sloppy drunk. He was more interested in impressing the boys than impressing the girls.
Alcohol became the focus of the hearing on Thursday after Christine Blasey Ford gave wrenching testimony Thursday about allegedly being attacked by Kavanaugh when they were both teenagers. Ford alleges Kavanaugh pinned her down, groped her, and tried to remove her clothes. She alleges he was "stumbling drunk" at the time.

(14,697 posts)It's the one part of his personality description that actually seems to be true. His brother was an alcoholic and he hated his brother.
But liars are good. Especially loyal liars lying about raping women. So with that I agree.

(75 posts)That he learned from a client of his, who was a noted psychiatrist. The saying is, "every alcoholic ruins at least three lives". I saw a photo of Kavanaugh's wife before he married her, and she looked so much happier then than now. There was life in her eyes then; now they look dead. Both his daughters also look sad, forlorn, not at all relaxed or outgoing, with no light or life in their eyes. I would imagine he would be hell to live with.

Too bad they're all women, though, or the Republicans might be inclined to care.
