Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI have had it with the false narratives!
I hear over and over and over by the republicans that the Dems withheld the allegations for 2 months!
OMG!!!
That has been explained over and over. Dr. Ford required her information remain confidential. Period!
I just want to say stop it! Stop the false narratives!
(I realize I am posting my complaint on a site that get's it. I just needed to yell it.)

(128,839 posts)Since the media claims they are doing "real time fact-checking", then they need to CORRECT the assertions. The other false narrative was that the Democrats "didn't request an FBI investigation until the last minute" and I believe it was Blumenthal or listed off and put into the record, copies of the letters from the Democratic Committee members to the Committee Chair & President dated back at the beginning of the month (IIRC), requesting it.

(7,376 posts)It is believed her friend(s) leaked the story to the Intercept.
The WaPo never had the letter. Only her representatives had the letter.
If you know otherwise, feel free to correct me.

That was a false narrative.
What she testified was that she had "told her friends" that she had submitted a letter - and note that since she lives and works in California right now, Feinstein IS her Senator. And since Feinstein's staff literally confirmed on the record during the hearing that they certainly didn't leak it (they know better in this toxic environment), then one of her friends apparently mentioned something to the media (or someone they knew in the media) and then the media started digging - and apparently then started showing up outside of her door. I.e., they didn't need an actual copy of the letter or need to know the exact contents of it because they now knew a letter was sent and who sent it, and that started their hounding.

(128,839 posts)This is a different "crowd" than most are accustomed to.
The "clique" thing never goes away. I remember reading articles probably 10 or so years ago about how "cliques" even pervade in the active retirement communities, with 80-year old supposed "friends" still "snitching" on each other and doing some pretty spiteful things that make the lives of others there miserable.
In this case, I don't know if it was done for spite or there was some sort of naivety going on with an assumption that "sharing" some info between "friends" wouldn't suddenly blow up into a big mess, but here we are.

Which is most critical? From what little has leaked on his decisions/actions during the George W regime, I'd say those papers
are critical to review.
Senator Feinstein has denied leaking that letter. Of course, they would never believe her...

I can imagine how crazy inducing and frustrated you feel. I stopped watching all M$M in November 2002.. I never went back.
And, I know from reading DU that it's exponentially worse now.
