I think the Republicans will jam his confirmation through.
Jamming him through, however, will cost that party the votes of a lot of women. Margins in several of these upcoming elections are slim right now, and eroding them in any way can tip the balance in favor of Dems. If Dems win control, it could happen that he's facing impeachment proceedings.

I would add that pushing this through to a confirmation would not only cost women votes, but men as well.
