We are getting duplicitous bullshit from Kelly Ann and Sara regarding if the White House is limiting the witness list (yes) and scope of the FBI investigation (yes).
This week has only opened up new battle lines, and seems to be an orchestrated show to NOT get to the truth, but delay and impede it.
I hope the public exercises extreme heat to demand the FBI investigation has not already been compromised!!

(14,274 posts)I have faith in the FBI to execute exactly as instructed. The problem is with the instructions and constraints placed on them. Republicans only agreed to this because the investigation parameters were set up to ignore facts and ensure Kavenaugh's nomination can move to a floor vote.

(7,228 posts)On temperament alone, Kavanaugh is wholly not qualified for the SCOTUS. Add conspiracy paranoia etc.
Jeff Flake is simply feeding a false narrative to protect tRump from ever being held accountable as a criminal!

(14,958 posts)People in Maine, Alaska, West Virginia, Arizona, and EVERYWHERE really, need to make it clear that we know this is a sham, and won't accept it as the fig leaf Flake et al were looking for.

(10,828 posts)attempt to muddy the water from the WH messaging: the investigation will be limited, the investigation will be open, Republicans will call for an investigation of Democrats, DiFi specifically, yada, yada.
It's laughable that the Trumpster is now beating the drum for the FBI when he's spent nearly 2 years attempting to destroy the Bureau and the DOJ.
Sow confusion is the main strategy and hope the FBI finds nothing so they can push their boy through.
God knows what's going on behind the scenes, things we're simply not privy to. So, I have no idea what sort of investigation this will be. But I remain cautiously optimistic because that's my nature and because that's all we have at the moment.

(54,770 posts)I get the skepticism, but why have several senators ask for an investigation during hearing, get one when it looked like full Senate vote would occur tomorrow, then start grousing?

(8,922 posts)If that's the case I expect the same Senators who requested it to reject it when it comes back without investigating the specific things they wanted investigated.

(79 posts)If the FBI straight up says "the limitations placed upon us prevented us from doing a proper investigation" it could carry some weight.

(18,672 posts)I called a list of alleged undecideds the other night, including Flake. Even a short voicemail is better than wringing our hands waiting for someone in authority to do the right thing. It's easy to feel powerless by yourself, but there are millions of us who are against Kavanaugh, Trump and the GOP agenda and we can make a difference. Hell, if everyone of us just called one undecided Senator, that would be huge! There's only a few who have full voicemail boxes, so I let them know via Twitter.

(1,483 posts)Rule #3: Institutions will not save you. It took Putin a year to take over the Russian media and four years to dismantle its electoral system; the judiciary collapsed unnoticed. The capture of institutions in Turkey has been carried out even faster, by a man once celebrated as the democrat to lead Turkey into the EU. Poland has in less than a year undone half of a quarter centurys accomplishments in building a constitutional democracy.
