Jay Gatsby vs. Owen Meany

Trump and Kavanaugh are F. Scott Fitzgerald's profligate Gatsby. We are Meany, the smallish Everyman of John Irving's imagination. Or, at least, I am.

That is where we are now. What other literary comparisons might there be?
