2:18pm Wednesday - we all get a blast from the Mango Molester

Tomorrow we will all get a special alert on our phones. We cannot disable it, and there is nothing you can do to respond. Are you ready for this? Happy about it?

I'm a geek, and I would love to find a way to have my phone automatically react to this "pResidential" notice. To send a tweet to the White House, a text to the Asslick McConnell, maybe a few other items as well.

notice should come from FEMA or that agency that manages the emergency process for the country (can't recall the name). not from the president.

The test was originally scheduled for September but was postponed as FEMA responded to Hurricane Florence. The law behind the cellphone notification system, which was passed in 2016, requires FEMA to run a test at least every three years.

It was literally passed before Trump was elected. It has nothing to do with him. The hysteria and false claims around this is amazing.

The answer is every member of the House and Senate and President Obama. It was enacted unanimously in both houses with the president's support.

"Be sure to drink your Ovaltine."

So I will immediately destroy my cell phone like I destroy my television once a month when the EBS (anyone remember CONELRAD?) messages appear. That'll show 'em.

Honestly, it's just a nice generic message (the text has already been shown on several newscasts) to test an important system. No difference from an AMBER alert, and it'll inconvenience people for the length of time it takes to poke "cancel" on the screen.

Although if it interrupts "Candy Crush Saga" I can see why many people might be upset.

for my local telephone operating company for about 10 years. Generally, automated alerts are a good thing and might save your life or the life of a loved one some day.

Having said that, this does irritate me but only because Trump is the current occupant of 1600 Penn Ave

Don't let him spoil this too, UNLESS he abuses it
