I have contemplated going to France. One of our own DU'ers just moved there.

But I am retired and going through a divorce. I don't think I have the energy or patience to do a move abroad alone. Never say never, though.

To be eligible to become a permanent residence of Canada under the Federal Investor Immigration Program, you had to make an $800,000 investment. You would have had to prove your minimal net worth of at least twice as much, and that it was legally obtained.

Been here a little over 2 years now out of blue NJ and am still determined to turn it blue. The answer is not to run away but to stand and fight. Our Dems are fighting back now, hard.

And fighting it is well....You see a nice piece of that today. You can go to war here in America-where we are headed-or try for a better rate of sane people. Like almost anywhere else in the world.

I'm sorry-I've been looking with no real hope but I'd move my family overseas or Canada in a heartbeat if I could.

They have been saying for years that we're disrespectful of the troops and unpatriotic. It's important to say, "I'm an American too. I'm critical because I care about this country." I don't want that to get lost.

There seems to be some misconceptions here about immigrating to Canada. It's not all that easy unless you have specific skills and the wait can be six months to a year if you qualify. You don't have to have a lot of money - in one category, you don't have to have any money at all. They use a points system based on a number of factors such as language skills, work experience and education - if you have enough points you will be invited to apply for Permanent Resident status (which has pretty much all the privileges of citizenship but you can't vote or run for office). I believe you can also retain your American citizenship if you wish (but that has tax implications).

And hey, it doesn't snow ALL year round

too hot and humid. I'd take cold over hot and humid any day. Winter sports BTW can be a lot of fun and a change in seasons is good for mental health.

trying to help her father to move there, she said somewhere in the area of 40k, total costs, this is actually someone who is American but married an Australian rock star, won't say who, but they are still touring the states, but making ends meet is hard even for him.
