to defy Mitch McConnell and Trump and vote against Kavanaugh?
My own view is that every GOP Senator, by supporting Trump, is just as much of a misogynistic racist and traitor as is Trump. In my view, they, meaning GOP politicians, are all money seeking, soulless, political whores.
But I am willing to be proven wrong in this.

(26,729 posts)IF she wants to stay (and that's far from a given), she hasn't had a close election in some time. Brennan in '96 (when she first took the seat) was the only one to come within double digits of her. She more than doubled the votes of her last opponent (2014).

(10,721 posts)Murkowski will face another primary challenge but she doesn't have to worry about that until 2022. Collins, though, will be in trouble 2 years from now. I frequently point out that memories and attention spans are short, but Collins has gone out of her way to put her position at risk. I suspect she'll retire.

(4,484 posts)I would like to think that Murkowski could talk Flake, Collins, and Manchin out of it, but I know the die has been cast.
It's a shame.
But all it does is motivate me to canvas, call, and work even harder in the midterms.
What comes around, goes around.

(25,183 posts)Flake was the only one I thought might be possible to sway, but clearly, the "one week FBI investigation" was just a cover for his true sentiments.
However, Murkowski may vote against Kav, but she will be the only one. I expect that she will have to win a write-in campaign the next time she's up for re-election if she wants to stay in the Senate.
