Public Comment on Changes to Demonstrations at WH and National Mall by Oct. 15Last edited Fri Oct 12, 2018, 03:38 PM - Edit history (1)
You can read the proposal here and click the "Comment Now" tab to leave your opinion:
[link:http://|http://www.regulations.gov/document?D=NPS-2018-0007-0001] From ACLU: "The Trump administration is proposing to dramatically limit the right to demonstrate near the White House and on the National Mall. The proposed rule changes were made by the National Park Service, which administers the areas. The proposal, which threatens First Amendment rights, would close 80 percent of the White House sidewalk, put new limits on spontaneous demonstrations, and open the door to charging fees for protesting." 4. I suggested as a cost saving measure they could eliminate events such as the national tree lighting
event versus restricting first amendment rights of citizens due to cost considerations

5. It's not your house, it's not your lawn, Mr. Trump.
You are a tenant, and most of us, the owners of this place, are looking forward to the day you leave.

7. My comment was short and sweet: "Opposed. Suggest you read the Constitution."

8. Here's my comment:
Charging money for protesting? That sounds a lot like charging a poll tax for voting. We live in a free Democracy, except for the "free" part I guess. What's next, privatizing citizenship? All the rights that money can buy...

9. The proposed rule was published on August, 15. Why so long to hear about it?
A 60 day comment period goes by quickly. I guess I need to do a better job of keeping up with this kind of stuff.
