I thought the Leslie Stahl interview with Trump was brilliant.

Last edited Wed Oct 17, 2018, 06:12 AM - Edit history (1)

She was prepared.

When she asked a question, she was ready to continue her questioning after his usual response and diversion. He was not accustomed to anyone questioning him in such a manner, was my impression.

When she asked why he "loved" a tyrant like Kim Jong Un, he went into his usual spiel about how they got along, blah, blah, blah... She continued to ask, "But, you said you 'loved' him". Every time, he was not prepared when she pursued the subject matter.

When she asked about Christine Blasey Ford, he tried to spin the Kavanaugh hearing as some great victory for himself and the Republicans. She continued to pursue the matter, "Did you not believe her", she asked? She reminded him of how he 'mocked' her and how all his audience laughed with him.

His bullshit was weak. When reporters do not accept his weak responses and continue to press him on issues, he falls apart.

The interviewer can't be baited into arguing with the subject, and has to be careful not to piss off the subject and let the whole thing go down the drain. An interview is not a debate. Stahl has been doing this for a long time and knows the drill.

BTW, NPR's Terri Gross is one of the best at that. She usually does pop entertainment stuff, but occasionally politics and heavier material. She manages, very quietly, to get into her subjects' skin and get secrets out, always respecting the subject, even when she doesn't agree. I remember her Bill O'Reilly interview where he saw what was happening and stormed out.

She stood up pretty well to his gas-lighting, but he still gets to say what he wanted to and he believes he won bigly. The Trumpanzees think he won. You cannot give a narcissist a forum and not look weak to them. Professionals tell partners in of a narcissist to cut ties and go No Contact.

If you can't go No Contact with the Narc, you can act like a "Grey Rock" and be noncommittal and unresponsive when in the Narc's presence. I think Melania has perfected this technique.

The third option is to become a crazy narcissist yourself and try to out gaslight them.

people all the time and are constantly building new detention camps. A stretch of highway in southwest Texas is called "detention alley" because of all the facilities being constructed along it.

Even more sinister, they have plans, though have gone silent about it, for camps that could eventually hold over 200,000 on a Navy base in Texas.

That "Cheech and Chong today" segment they did probably was not incidentally included given a the couple of Cheech's movies I remember which both involved American citizens being maliciously deported to Mexico and trying to get back. Happened then and happening now, along with all the rest.

...this fucking moron [now, don't criticize me, just quoting Tillerson btw what's happened to him? Did he sign a non discloure required by his best pal, putin who once gave him best friend of Russia plaque because the guy just seem to have vanished --anyone check on him lately...you just never know] is president of the United States? Without stealing the election, dumping ballots somewhere, hiding voting machines in some abandon warehouse near the docks; paying off some clerk in red states or some the clerk (Brian Kemp) in Georgia who is purging or wanting purge newly registered voters (mostly Black voters) some 53,000 voters... and, get this he's running for governor against Stacy Abrams who is Black and is overseeing his own election...how is this right? Not required to take leave, resign ?

In 2017 more than 668,000 voter registrations were canceled in Georgia in 2017 by yup you got it Kemp! Republiklans up to their same ole chicanery.....in my opinion--the only way trump won is that he lied, cheated stole, colluded, conspired wth Russians to break into the DNC; attack our election process and literally steal votes..that's the only reason he could have possibly won...later in a dream I had about same ....some 50 years from now when we baby boomers are all dust, a trove of rusted voting machines will be found in abandon warehouse in Maine, ITscientists were able to break the computer code ...and found the 77,000 votes that Clinton needed to win Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Michigan electoral votes to win the presidency ...back at home my great, great grandson reads the breaking news ...look here the old gizzard was right ..it's right here in his journal...a question he posed to the wise democratic underground members.look, the entry is dated October 16, 2017..."Can someone explain to me why this fucking moron is president ..." he, my great great grandson asked his great grandma, your dad swore ? Nunca Never, not even the night that his beloved Hillary lost the presidential election in 2016, although I remember that he wept, she said! The entry went on ..unless he lied cheated, stole votes; had the Russians breakin the dnc and attack the 2016...stealing 77,000 that went to Hillary Clinton....and we thought old gramps was just plain loco rambling on on...even at his death bed as they prayed the rosario over him...he said look in abandon warehouse near docks because no way could this fucking moron was our president were his last words..he died at 106..a loyal DEMOCRAT to his dying days.....we went to composanto, cemetery that goes back to 1600swhwn esponolesspanish arrived, a placecwwre a) his familia is buried ...and replaced his tomb stone to read..."He was right the f#!@g moron stole the elections, only way he could be potus! After more than 668,000 voter registrations were canceled in Georgia in 2017, election officials are removing far fewer people from voting rolls this election year.
Republican Secretary of State Brian Kemp, who oversees elections, is no longer purging names from the state’s list of 6.8 million eligible voters as he runs for governor against Democrat Stacey Abrams.

After Duane Gish, the hardcore creationist that use to 'debate' scientists by spewing an impossible amount of BS to debunk in the time given.

Eugenie Scott, executive director of the National Center for Science Education, dubbed this approach the Gish gallop, describing it as "where the creationist is allowed to run on for 45 minutes or an hour, spewing forth torrents of error that the evolutionist hasn't a prayer of refuting in the format of a debate".

KellyAnne ConJob is also a Grandmaster of this technique, spewing massive amounts of 'alternative facts' in her given airtime. If she is lucky whomever is fact-checking or giving the reality position will only be able to refute a very small sampling of the crap that was just spewed forth.
