George Will, Nicole Wallace, Joe Scarborough et al are showing their true colors as we get close to the election. Its almost like they have Never Trumper talking points. While it might be gratifying to hear them bash Trump, Its good to remember they are still Republicans at heart and will most likely be voting that way.

(11,794 posts)Fuck both of em. And don't tell me she's cool because she didn't vote for McCain/Palin. That shit don't fly. She busted her ass to get them elected. Did she leave the campaign? No she didn't. She worked to hoist Palin's unqualified ass on the American public. Fuck Nicole Wallace! Braaahhhhh! OK, sorry. End of rant

(1,777 posts)I read recently that he was looking to hire on to Democratic campaigns. Certainly if he intends to continue as a campaign consultant/manager, he'll have to do it as a Dem.
The most thoughtful never-Trumper is Max Boot, who's acknowledged his own failure to recognize the sickness in the GOP that long preceded Trump. For me the test isn't whether these people become liberals -- Boot hasn't -- but whether they recognize that it's the GOP that's poisoning our country, not Donald Trump. As far as I can see Schmidt passes that test.

(34,661 posts)as well as Chavettz for Governor in 2020. Steve loves the action, and don't think their is a Dem who would trust him,he has burned a lot of bridges with the Washington Establishment.

(1,777 posts)He's denounced Paul Ryan by name, and the entire GOP congress. They're not going to hire him FFS.
But whatever.

(1,777 posts)He's leaving Congress after the midterms. By 2024 he'll be "Paul Who?" Or at best a senescent parasite like Newt Gingrich.

(37,648 posts)That's pointing out something that is real. No message. No torch carrier.
I've been saying this for months, as Schumer struggles to come up with some sort of slogan. It's not that hard, as long as you get someone who is good at that.
Constructive criticism is a GOOD thing, if a party wants to win. WINNING. That's what it's about.
If they don't see a national theme, neither does the public.
I mentioned this in 2016...that there was a problem with the ACA as it affects the middle class. I was branded as being a heretic. Boom...the middle class ran to the polls to vote against the ACA and trade agreements.
Listening to criticism and addressing those concerns is a way to win. The Repubs didn't win by ignoring what their base was concerned about and not formulating a national message.
Hopefully, the Blue Wave will happen. But that won't be enough for the next election.
We have it all, on the issues, if the Dems blanket the country with a unified message on Social Security, Medicare, health care, taxes....
To say these things is not "bashing" the Democrats. It's an attempt to help.
Scarborough's suggestion on countering the "angry mob" meme: We're not angry mobs. We're angry Moms! We're angry about low wages, no heath care, violence against women, public education!
Just suggestions. You don't offer suggestions & critique to someone you want to fail.

(50,255 posts)Especially since Tiny's only nod to conservatism is appointing anti-abortion judges. (Where will he send the next mistress he knocks up?) Trump is the opposite of a free trader, is on track to bankrupt the country and no one in the GOP-led Congress is stopping him. Bona fide Republicans require Democrats. At least for the short term.

(19,348 posts)There is nothing to suggest that Steve Schmidt and Max Boot are insincere. They have called for a partisan Democratic vote across the board to keep the GOP in line. Schmidt lives in suburban New Jersey. His vote will certainly play a roll in ousting the GOP from the House.

(15,373 posts)He is also likely the most well known neo-con in the world, with the possible exceptions of Paul Wolfowitz and Dick Cheney. He beat the drums of war louder than any other in Iraq. He has dedicated his entire life to war, yet was never in the military. He's the definition of chicken-hawk.
Sorry for the rant. I just hate this man so much that it aggravates me. I owe you a beer.
