This morning, Mitt Romney said that during his time as governor, we created more jobs in Massachusetts than this Presidents created in the entire country. But thats just not reality, and heres the proof:
Under President Obama, weve seen 21 months of consecutive private-sector job growth. From February 2010 to November 2011, the economy added 2.9 million private-sector jobs, including the biggest increase in manufacturing jobs since 1997.

(20,450 posts)stifled even MORE job growth, we could have witnessed a recovery with much broader impact. However, the willingness to demonize those looking for work or laid off--and Americans going along with that--has contributed to a much slower turnaround.

You want us all to jump for joy because Automated Machinery of Manufactures are seeing an increase in orders?
The last 3 Presidents have sat idelly by watch Millions of American Jobs exodous the country under the illusion of Free Trade while Congress grants them lucerative Tax Incentives to move American Jobs Offshore - BULLSHIT - and not 1 word is uttered in defense of all the American lives torn apart so some Greedy SOB Wealthy Elitest Corporation can make more profit

(Brace yourself for something about a bully pulpit or a WPA-style program that Congress would never fund or a photo of LBJ poking his finger into some Congressman's chest or some such shopworn crap.)

Donna Edwards, congresswoman from Maryland, is an example of one such progressive Democrats who is facing a tough race this time around. She has been a major fighter for the poor, working and middle classes.

Now why should we work to re-elect Obama - I by no means think he has this "In the Bag"
He has surrounded himself with "Business as Ussual", Trickle Down Economic advisors. Caves to Corporatist demands every time. In short at every measure, has failed to lead the country.
By no means is a "Pretty Speech" going to get it this time around. Too much has been lost, too many have been hurt. Blaming it all on the "Last Administration" has long since been worn out

(20,450 posts)In fact, I'm lucky because I live in a fairly progressive, liberal district.
So, what are you going to do? I understand that you won't be voting for Obama. But I don't buy that there aren't any liberals running in local and state politics where you are. Or, perhaps there is.
However, I don't think I asked you about Obama. I asked if you were going to vote for your local/state candidates.

I firmly beleive it is Obama's and the DEM's to Win or Lose, but I also don't believe either will take the action to win. They know already which seats are safe and won't do anything to "Rock the Corporate Boat". They also know if and when we suffer a defeat they'll claim we have to dig deeper, and contribute more, or work harder to dig the country out of the mess were in
It never seems to end - but the 1 true common denominator of all this is the Working Class looses yet again

(20,450 posts)in Congress. And yes, Obama may be a corporatist, but he's not the same as Mitt Romney or Bush. At least there has been some changes. Those changes have been slow and not enough, but at least something is being done. And I'll be very happy if he makes a recess appointment to the Consumer Protection agency.

(10,942 posts)The state was second to LAST of 50 states in job growth. That record was set during the mortage fraud driven growth that happened during all of Romnay's term. Deval Patrick, the democrat that took over after Romney, has moved Massachusetts to either number one or number two in job creation (new industries) AND job growth. Patrick performed his feat during one of the worst economic situations in 80 years. In summary, Romney is a failure at jobs, but he is good at destroying jobs and the lives that depended on those jobs.

Granted it started under Reagan and Bush Jr opened the "Flood Gates" of manufacturing going offshore, but our president has not even acknowledged we must reverse the trend to strengthen Middle Class Jobs
