(27,439 posts)that's true. Huckabee won Iowa last time: Pat Robertson did too a while back. I don't think there really are enough of them to actually put someone like Huckabee or Robertson in the White House.

(15,189 posts)They're just getting bolder. You can not be an Atheist and run for office without going through landmines. At least at the Presidential level. Romney will have his, but it's nothing like an Atheist would get treated.

Evangelicals have been a strong REPUBLICAN block since Reagan, at least,

For example, in our (extended) family we have "evangelicals." who are as liberal as ya wanna be.
A strong religious faith, on its face, is not a political indicator.
