Because Trump is pandering to a base which is fiercely antisemitic. To them, anyone who is not an Evangelical Christian is a threat. Meaning that when they see members of another religion who have made themselves "easy targets" they feel compelled to shoot to kill. To them it is self defense. And so, if you want to practice the freedom of religion which is your Constitutional right in this country, you had better carry a big weapon with you, because in Trump's America, antisemitism is absolutely inevitable. To have a synagogue without an armed guard is like an attractive young woman wearing a short skirt. Because rape is inevitable in Trump's America, too.

(1,898 posts)I watched the first debate between Cruz and Beto - and there was this segment where Cruz was defending his wanting to put guards
and metal detectors in school as a "solution" to school shootings. I told my nephew that Beto should have said something to the effect - "So, Mr. Cruz wants our Texas grade schools to be like prisons." The normalization of this shit is appalling.

(173 posts)In Trumps universe its easier for him to tell people to expect attacks and defend themselves from violence than it is for him to condemn the violence in the first place. Violence and personal attacks have been normalized by Trump. Either defend yourself or get run over are his solutions.

(50,269 posts)guns at the library, guns at the emergency room, guns at the Brownie Scout meeting, guns under your pillow at night, guns for Christmas, guns at the funeral home. Guns, guns, guns. This is the problem. Mentally ill people can be hospitalized, guns will remain on the street.

(15,089 posts)Weve had one that targeted Asians at an Indian grocery and a Chinese restaurant, and another that targeted women at a fitness center. Apparently every place containing non-white, non Christian, non-male people should have an armed guard.

(50,269 posts)I have very fond memories of Pittsburgh from when I was a little kid in the 1950's. My mother, who died at the end of that decade, took me to a department store at Christmas time to get my photo taken on Santa's lap. We lived in Sewickley at the time and my Scottish granny lived in Leetsdale.

(5,810 posts)How about we get to the root of the problem like WHY someone would feel like they have a right to act on their most demonic thoughts? Why should they resort to violence because they disagree?
That makes as much sense as stationing a cowboy in the pasture to round up the strays after the cattle have escaped the barn. Why not make sure the barn is secure in the first place??
I am sick to death of these people who think putting armed guards in our churches, synagogues, schools, stadiums, shopping malls and other public places is the solution to gun violence. We have more guns in the US than any other place on this planet and yet our violence continues to Mark us as a very dangerous place to live, work and play. More guns have only made it more dangerous. Not safer. The statistics dont lie. Just look at the facts. They are not fake news.

Does tRump think we are stupid?? Or just have no working brain cells?? Never mind. Some of his base ARE that mindless.
