(22,239 posts)A) Leprosy (Hansen's disease) is curable now.
B) Leprosy is not that easy to contract and is only mildly contagious. Per the CDC "Prolonged, close contact with someone with untreated leprosy over many months is needed to catch the disease." 95 percent of people have natural immunity to the disease.
C) We already have leprosy in the US. Armadillos carry the bacteria. There are new cases every year (about 200) in the US.
Well, gosh. Color me terrified.
