I was reading twitter and saw a Jim Acosta tweet in which he said that, last night, at a rally, a Trump support asked him if George Soros is paying him to ask Donald Trump questions. That made me think that George Soros has become the Republican Party's Emmanuel Goldstein. It is also surprising how much America under Donald Trump resembles Oceania in 1984. Trump seems to be doing to his base exactly what the leaders of Oceania did to the party members during the two minutes hate. Like Oceania blamed Emmanuel Goldstein and others for the problems of the party members of Oceania, Donald Trump and the Republican Party leaders are blaming George Soros for any and all things that are happening in America that anger Republicans.

(9,350 posts)It really seems that we are living in the movie 1984. That scene reminds me of a Trump rally both now and during the 2016 election. Then, the Two Minutes Hate was reserved for Hillary Clinton. Now, its for anyone who stands up to Donald Trump.
It is crazy that that clip is partially the reality for present day America. Donald Trump is like a present day real life Oceania. One day a person praises him and he loves the person. Next day that same person criticizes him and he was never friends with that person. One day a person criticizes him and he hates that person. The next day the person praises him and he never hated that person. "Oceania was at war with Eurasia; therefore Oceania had always been at war with Eurasia." It is amazing how well this book describes present day America.

(53,949 posts)Frankly, I am a bit surprised there isn't a piece of "literature" out there with a breakdown of Soros' evils and his past interference, both here and on a global scale. Of course, I don't routinely read far-right Nazi sites, so something like that may actually exist.
