The number of people under the age of 30 who have already early voted in Texas, never having voted at all before (137,762), exceeds the TOTAL number of first time voters in any other state.

Obviously, we dont know which candidates these new voters who have never voted before are supporting, but the odds are really good that Republican Senator Ted Cruz has not inspired a wave of young first-time voters under age 30 to head to the polls in Texas. It is a safe guess that the young first-time voters who are turning out are doing so for Beto ORourke.

(31,261 posts)I got a cell call from a relative today, did not recognize his number, did not answer. He texted me, I replied and added him to me cell contact list. The point is that most cell users don't answer strange numbers or respond to popup texts that they don't recognize as someone they know.

(12,448 posts)that young people aren't voting. I don't know who the pollsters are talking to, but clearly they're not talking to actual voters.

(1,975 posts)They are most definitely not talking to people under 30.
I'd imagine that its gonna be this way nationwide. I also believe that it also could lead to a cry from the conspiracy nuts (aka Republicans) at how the Democrats stole the election because all of the polling showed Republicans not losing so badly because of all of the first time Democratic voters.
Although I could be completely wrong about how the companies do the polling, and they very well could be calling cell phones.

But don't get too over-confident, we have to GOTV for the people who haven't already voted.

(31,261 posts)With Trump stirring up hate against Hispsnics, I hope that Hispanics in Texas that normally vote republican have had second thoughts, they really are next in line for Trump's hate and the rightwing White people that are true Trump believers only use like minded Hispanics as voted, hopefully they realize that.

(10,156 posts)So far I'm 100% in voting since 2008. And mind you I voted today tendonitis in my foot. I limped all through the pain. Was brutal but gotta tough it out

(10,156 posts)I was offering free rides for those who wanted to vote. All for Beto. Figured I'd wait to vote near the end. Poor decision on my end.

(3,784 posts)................that the entire time he was there, he saw almost no Ted Cruz signs or bumper stickers, but signs/stickers for Beto were EVERYWHERE. He said it was easily 4 to 1 in favor of Beto. I know that's all anecdotal, but it's still a good sign.
FYI, he was in the Dallas/Ft. Worth/Arlington area.
