Why does everyone take him seriously?
None of his base will hold him responsible when he doesn't live up to his lies.
They don't care. As long as his lies are shocking and make us angry they are happy.

The biggest reason is that all the Trump worshipers have proved themselves to be so disrespectful of their own government and the institutional systems that have held this country together.
