General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsAbsolutely EVERYTHING Trump says now is total, empty, bullshit.
He's not going to send a massive amount of troops to the border.
He's not going to order people shot at the border.
He's not going to sign an order to end birth citizenship.
Everything he says right now are all simply lies to get his people to vote on Tuesday.
No other purpose whatever.
Why does everyone take him seriously?
None of his base will hold him responsible when he doesn't live up to his lies.
They don't care. As long as his lies are shocking and make us angry they are happy.
So stop wringing your hands over this crap and stop falling for his lies.
He will say absolutely anything to get his toadies into the voting booths.
After Tuesday every one of these issues will suddenly disappear because they were
never meant to be put into action in the first place.

(1,584 posts)The biggest reason is that all the Trump worshipers have proved themselves to be so disrespectful of their own government and the institutional systems that have held this country together. In the eyes of the world, our "togetherness" and patriotic sense of duty and fairness and inclusion is what others admired. Trump and his supporters have dashed that to pieces on the altar of racist nationalism and evil intent.
It will take a couple of generations to mend what has been shredded.

(18,626 posts)He's terrified of Democrats regaining power so he's doing everything he can to disrupt the conversation.
If we do gain control of the House, then he will be even more desperate to create news that will grab all the headlines and relegate investigations of his crimes to the back pages.
It's not going to be pretty.
He's not above sacrificing lives in service of protecting himself and as president, unfortunately, he may be in a position to do so.
Let's hope Democrats regain the House and are able to move quickly to constrain his powers.

Is it possible to draw a line between that kind of rhetoric and what happened in Pittsburgh? No. But neither is it possible to deny that the political leader with the loudest public voice of all can escape responsibility for creating a climate of intolerance and hatred in which the worst types of extremists feel emboldened and empowered.
It is too much to hope at this point that Trump will reverse course and truly act like a leader. He has chosen his path. And given that, it becomes more important than ever for American voters to demonstrate their decency next week and check his power. The stakes could hardly be greater.

Why not say to him, nothing you say matters, not like you'd tell the truth or that you are educated or thoughtful about issues or how you've CRAPPED on everybody and every thing.

(1,020 posts)They call it, "triggering". As in, "they find a hot button and keep pressing it." Da bastids.
Do what we did when the nazi's marched in Skokie: close your windows, draw your blinds, and play the music real loud until they're gone. In other words, ignore them.
Remember when Reagan debated Carter? (I'm not a fan of Reagan...) Carter tried to press one of Reagan's hot buttons, and Reagan dismissed it with, "There you go again". It was very effective, sadly.
So avoid triggering. Let 'em press a hot button, and then ignore it. That'll really drive 'em nuts.
