The trouble started when the questioner brought up the anti-immigrant rhetoric embraced by the shooter who went on a massacre last weekend at a synagogue in Pittsburgh. The questioner connected that to Kings racially-charged rhetoric over the years, asking the congressman do you identify as a white nationalist?

This republican US House rep. has been linked to white supremacy for years!
The young man questioning him speaks truth!
This guy is up for re-election on Nov. 6th and is on the US House Judiciary Committee.
He needs to go! VOTE him OUT!
Here he is at the RNC convention in 2016 making white supremacy statements:

(7,142 posts)and the 11 Jewish people were killed in Pittsburgh, what did Trump say? These acts were done by his neo-Nazi base. Trump said that those acts slowed "his" momentum. Fucking ehh it slowed your momentum you psychopathic beoach. Trump knows that his Republican party lost more possible voters over those incidents. Those 2 instances made it clearer that a vote for Trump is in fact a vote against democracy and a vote for neo-Nazi fascism.
Steve King and Donald Trump are examples of the new Republican party, the new neo-Nazi party. Voters beware is that the kind of country we want to live in?

(10,476 posts)He could have taken the King quote, attributed it to the shooter, then ask King what his response is to that sentiment.
After some meaningless doublespeak response, the guy goes "actually, that was you who said that, not the shooter. Any follow-up?"

(14,490 posts)why did the squeaky-clean, high-morals Christian Repug voters of Iowa put King in office and keep him there for so long?
After all, this ain't Steve King's first racism rodeo.
Reminds me of Condo Sleaza Rice's comment to a European interviewer recently regarding tRump's lies (to paraphrase): "Don't listen to what he says, just look at what he's gotten done."
Most likely, the majority of King's constituents are just as racist and xenophobic as he is and care mostly about someone that will bolster the next farm welfare bill, turn a blind eye to illegal migrant farm workers, and parrot some lines about abortion.

(49,988 posts)They believe every boogie man story about liberals they've heard. Better a nazi than a liberal. Sad
That said, I was relieved to hear a story about someone I knew in high school who lives in King's district. He's a republican but his 85 yr old mother is a Dem. She wanted him to put a JD Scholten sign in her yard. He said, "good, we need to get that jackass (King) out of office!" So maybe there is hope after all.

(14,490 posts)I think it's worth the effort to get the message out there about Republican lying, deception and racism to appeal to those with a bit of common sense and compassion left in their souls. That message needs to be simple and straight-forward and in black and white. I still feel most people resent being lied to and deceived.
Our challenge is getting that message to them through those stone walls of their right-wing bubble.
Thanks for that story, it felt good to hear!........

The article is about the Dem challenger!
