Michael Moore Blasts Nancy Pelosi For Declaring Dems Will ‘Win’ Midterms: ‘That’s What Happened in 2016!’

by Joseph A. Wulfsohn | Nov 2nd, 2018, 2:04 am

On Thursday night, Michael Moore took some shots at House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) for calling the 2018 midterms in favor of the Democrats. As he was filling out his own absentee ballot, the liberal documentary filmmaker explained how we shouldn’t “shame” non-voters and that we should “listen to them” and find out why they’re not voting, which he predicted was because they’ve “given up.”

Seth Meyers then pointed out how Moore correctly predicted that Donald Trump would win the 2016 election and wanted to get his thoughts about next week’s midterms. However, Moore responded by slamming Pelosi, who appeared on The Late Show earlier this week and declared that Democrats will “win” back the House.

“Well, I’m not going to make the mistake that someone else made on a late night show a couple nights ago,” Moore told Meyers. “A Democrat, who just automatically announced, ‘We’re gonna win.’ And it’s like, ‘My God.’ That’s what happened in 2016. Everybody was throwing the party for Hillary before the election. And I think some people stayed home. I think some people didn’t think- even The New York Times on Election Day in 2016 in that box where they predict said there was only a 15% chance today of Trump winning the presidency.”

“So you’ve got to throw all that out. You have to quit this kind of predicting nonsense and you just got to do your job as a citizen,” Moore continued. “Everybody has to get off the bench this time.”

Nov 2018

the first couple minutes of him on O'Donnell, instead of quickly changing the channel when he came on, and it was pure trashing of both parties to presumed listening nonvoters as if there were no real difference.

He understands why someone who was so outraged at Sanders - finally - tepidly "defending" Hillary to nonvoters that he may never vote again. He understands why they don't vote, that Hillary and Trump and the rest of the candidates were old party hacks not worth voting for or against, that the system's corrupt and needs to be destroyed, BUT that they are actually the biggest political party who have the power to stick it to the man.

Nothing on either side to support or believe in, but the good thing is that they can stick it to us. Because Democrats SO deserve for nonvoters, who watched the promise of evil face off against healthcare, civil rights, affordable college and livable wages and claimed not be able to tell a difference, to stick it to us.

I changed the channel. No doubt he must have said worthwhile something or things after that because that's his schtick, the chocolate he hides his poison in, but poison was his first, main message 4 days before the election.

Moore hasn't changed. He's actively discouraged voting in the past, and while he may have softened that stance somewhat, he still does that "both sides" thing. I didn't see his shitty movie, but I heard about it: yet more trashing of Hillary and the Democratic party. I know the Democratic party isn't perfect, but Moore criticizes Democrats FAR more than Republicans.

Because she was a "shoo-in". If those Dem-leaning non-voters would have gotten up off their tired asses, they could have provided a firewall against the cheaters, suppressors, and Comey stunts, all of which allowed Trump to pull it off with a margin of few thousand votes spread over 3 states. Those who did show up to vote in 2016 do not need a lecture. There is always a worst-case scenario to consider (losing to someone like Donald Trump), and that alone should be motivation enough to show up at the polls. My point was that the lazy abstainers from two years ago might want to think twice before making the same mistake again. I sense that a lesson has been learned.

To include a few Bernie or bust fans (think baked-in Susan Sarandon mentality) and even more leaning-Hillary types but not overly enthused with either candidate. In one instance, a relative of my wife actually preferred Hillary to Trump, but actually voted for the S.O.B so that shoo-in Hillary would win but by a smaller vote margin (and hey, that's exactly what happened). That one still burns me up. HRC actually got fewer votes than Obama did 4 years earlier. Some, but not all of that difference can be attributed to votes for Trump. I'm a forward thinking individual, and as such would like to believe that one of the edges that Democrats have in the upcoming midterm is full realization that every vote is important. That realization was certainly present in 2016, but not universally so. Hopefully the "midterm mentality" that has plagued Democrats over the years, to the benefit of the GOP who tend to show up, is a thing of the past.

You vote for the nominee. Bedrock politics. I voted bernie...and when Hillary got it, I was just as pleased. As an old man I wanted free college for kids. Either would have done it in the end. Pres Clinton just couldn't say it bc the gop had already spent nearly 30 years hounding her. We all know it who are old enough.Pres Clinton always danced w the ones who brung her. I liked that. She was about to make the gop reap the whirlwind, and they knew it. Since then the gop blew any Obama budget and free college wont be had again for a long time I'm afraid. Kids could nt vote THEN, and now, the time has passed I fear. Either was fine. Any true D who got their panties in a bunch then, have no room to speak to it now. The moment has passed.
NEW D's who came to the party during Pres Obama hadn't seen the torture they put HRC through. That's on them, not the party. Any way you slice it...THEY FUCKING CHEATED. And usually when you cheat to win, you make sure you do. And they did. KNOW your history everyone under 60. If youre going to make informed choices for THE GOOD OF YOUR COUNTRY, know your history. Hillary won. That's my belief. And, nothing will ever change that. I'm old enough to know better.

Golden rule number 1...BEDROCK VOTING RULE....EVEN IF YOUR PERSON DIDN'T MAKE IT PAST THE PRIMARY, YOU VOTE THE NOMINEE. JUST DO IT. Right?
Round here, we all know that, and I think everywhere else they still did as well. ALL the tv, and people are STILL stupid and uninformed, and they don't even have to read a book or go to school to know it.
That segues the second golden rule. THE GOP CHEAT....ALWAYS. Count on it. The GOP cheated again, and are trying to again for Tuesday. How much voter suppression evidence is needed to know that?? God DAMMIT. UGHHHHhhhhh. Never again w the cheating the vote. Never again. And when they do, they better be punished. Mueller are ya listening??? Wed's coming ROBERT. Batter up!

These days in a close election Democrats can vote as the majority and still lose. All the skullduggeries noted, aided and abetted by the Trump campaign, stole the 2016 election putting us into the horrible mess we're in. It just might have been precluded had more people with a stake in the results bothered to show up and vote. DU is not where complacent Democratic voters (aka non-voters = de facto GOP enablers) tend to hang out. But sorry to say they do exist in significant numbers, particularly in the younger progressive-leaning demographic. Early voting tallies indicate that more than a few "converts" have come to their senses and realize that their votes do indeed matter.

Did I forget to mention Anthony Wiener as an accessory? All of these are the very reasons why Dems will never succeed with a mere majority of voter support. An extra firewall is required. Staying home in the face of having the deck stacked up against us in advance ultimately gets the other side over the finish line. Trump's electoral margin of victory despite losing the popular vote was ultimately assured by millions of citizens who figured that HRC was gonna win comfortably, so why bother? The aforementioned improprieties were already in play, and are in play in 2018 as well.

Eight years of your life and that's what people are going to remember. Boy, I got a feeling, knowing you, that — you'd probably wish you were remembered for a few other things, a few other things you could've done."

"So, it is, on that level, a big disappointment," Moore said.>

Fri Nov 2, 2018, 06:36 PM

non-transparent computerized voting is most ripe for rigging elections when the odds are within the margin of error -- then with algorithms, rethugs can steal a few votes here and there from various precincts to get the desired results. I understand Michael Moore's pessimism -- we still have proprietary DREs, optiscans, centralized tabulators in all 50 states. It appears that voters are turning out in large numbers, so hopefully this will help overcome the rethug strategy of tweaking the results with the machines. We have an extreme problem with corrupt elections officials and vendors and a weakness in our system of government that allows them to operate with almost no accountability.

It's the huge turnout that is making me feel optimistic, but all voter suppression tactics need to be stamped out and elections officials held responsible for their ongoing corrupt practices.

Lots of people here are utterly convinced we'll win big next week. I've seen lots and lots of posts asking what's the first thing we should do when we take control of the Senate.

A little history might be in order. In 2004 there were many, many posts here telling of all those who'd voted for W in 2000 who were absolutely NOT voting for him now. The general consensus was that he was toast and we'd be inaugurating a President John Kerry come January 20, 2009.

There's more, but I'll spare you the boring details. The point is that irrational confidence is a hallmark of the left, and I for one am rather tired of it.
