Today is the Twoth of November.

I just got back from the supermarket, where I was reminded that people in their late seventies and older still get their Social Security money on the first of the month. Like most younger recipients, mine comes in at a different time of the month, but older retirees are still on the first of the month payments.

So, the supermarket was full of quite elderly people filling their grocery carts, often looking like they were doing a month's worth of shopping today. Which reminded me that many people depend on their Social Security just to survive. We must try very, very hard to keep the Republicans from making their lives even more difficult. Truly, we must!

People are buying staple items that will last. Kraft Mac and Cheese in the blue box. Dry pasta. Canned goods. Cereals, dried beans, and other things, too. Clearly the goal is to stock up on less costly, sturdy foods that will be used later. Frozen, microwave meals are in there, too, and not the fancy brands, either. They're buying Banquet, Swanson, and maybe some Marie Callender meals. Cans of Campbell's soup. Denison's Chili.

It's inedible. I tasted a Fancy Feast Mixed Grill that my cats love. Nasty stuff. I couldn't eat it. There are plenty of canned foods that aren't very expensive. Most of us don't eat them, but there they are on the supermarket shelves. Someone is buying them. Spaghetti-Os? Chef Boyardee Ravioli? Who eats that. Chung King chinese food? If you look in the canned goods section, You'll see all kinds of things you don't buy, but that someone does. It's cheaper than cat food, by the ounce.

People buy what they can afford. If they have a cat, they buy cat food. People love their pets.
