LA Times writer shares 'reader response' to immigration coverage:

If you don't get Twitter, @theCindyCarcamo's tweet says:

"Received this nasty email from a @latimes reader, calling me a “whore,” hoping I get “raped by one of those illegal aliens.” I share this so people know what vitriol reporters contend with. This is not an anomaly. @brittny_mejia has gotten similar emails."

And includes an image of the email on her phone, which says:

First, "protected by your wealth"???

Srsly? Eejit seems to think working for a newspaper is the path to riches...

But of course, once I stop laughing at the absurd bit, I want to rub the nose of every oblivious bothsideser into the reality of what it's like for a woman in media to do her job. And every hrmph-ing pundit claiming the "immigration debate" is being conducted on a serious policy level that merits attention to all the arguments.

Thank you, Ms Carcamo, for doing your job with dedication and professionalism in the face of such disgustingly puerile attacks.

wearily,
Bright

This is what Fox and Limbaugh and Breitbart tell them. Rightwing media amplifies these views. talkingwithtrumpers Nov 2018 #1

Someone posted a fellow wearing a T-shirt yesterday reading something like: "I prefer refugees to racists."

It applies here as well.
