'Beto O'Rourke has now received the endorsement of every major newspaper in Texas!

One paper that endorsed Cruz in 2012 said, “we enthusiastically endorse Beto O’Rourke for Senate” and that he "is running as an unapologetic progressive" who “would help to serve as a check on a president who is a danger to the republic.”

Another paper simply said, “Cruz does not measure up.”'

Republicans were never very big on spending for education, especially in southern states like ours.

On the other hand, Beto is very telegenic, and if he wins, the Fox affiliates in TX will want access to him, so they might have a reason to not go totally negative on him. It's close to the day of reckoning in any case. in 48 hours, we'll all be a lot wiser.

Find very few posters who watch Fox to find out. the constant lies on that station take a strong stomach.

Except Shep Smith. Here is an aricle for you.

Actually, I'm surprised anyone on Fox tried to scare their base with a phony claim of leprosy, as I can't imagne more than 1% of true Foxsuckers having the slightest idea what leprosy is. They would know if they had read "Hawaii" by James Michner, but that would assume 1.) that they could read, and 2.) they knew who James Michner was. How many of Fox's Frauds meet those two criteria?

There is a right-wing think tank on Mass. Ave. called the "American Enterprise Institute." I have a friend who is a resident scholar there, and he is kept around as their token sane person-in-residence. He probably has the highest IQ of anyone there as well, so maybe they like to parade him around on occasion.

This guy, Smith, seems to enjoy the same status at Fox Noise. My friend's name is Norm Ornstein, and he is the same kind of lonely voice of reason in the wilderness. Norm is also known locally as "Washington's most quoted pundit," which probably drives his nameless right-wing colleagues nuts.

His intelligence shows every time he wrotes or speaks!

Another favorite is David Cay !

Reading Bob Woodward right now. Much of it we already know, except how staff has stopped Trump from doing many totally ignorant things

Also John Fae has a book on Evangelicals. A friend is reading it now. Said it is excellent. I have it on order from the Library. Too many books coming to buy them all.

While in the States last summer, I saw a picture by a Cuban artist with an abandoned speaker's podium, where a speech had obviously recently been given, and there was a cleaning woman at the podium's base sweeping up the garbage made up completely of letters of the alphabet, an allusion to the fact that speech had been so much garbage, too. I bought it and sent it down to Norm at the AEI.

Norm loved it, and hung it on his wall at the AEI, which itself was worth the price.

I've known him for close to 20 years. We've been friends for maybe half of that. When I'm in Dallas and actually spend time in cars, I hear him all the time on shows on NPR on the car radio. But I don't see his articles here in Germany, and he never toots his own horn, and doesn't alert me to his writing. Ironically, my dad, a D.C. print journalist, used to call Norm up for quotes before I had even met him.

When we get together, it's still 40% personal stuff, only 60% politics. He DID promise me a fancy dinner for the picture I sent him, so maybe that will expand next time I'm in DC (and if he's there, too!).

One fun item you'll never have seen told elsewhere--in either late 2006 or early 2007 (I forget which), Norm, Howard Dean and I were discussing the upcoming 2008 race. The two of them were doing most of the talking, of course. Then Howard wondered why VA Senator Mark Warner wasn't getting into the primaries. Norm, who knows everything, said it wasn't widely known, but Warner was having issues with his (then-) teenage sons that would have been a major distraction to a presidential campaign. I then remarked that that was exactly my reason for not running as well. I cracked the both of them up with that line (they both know I have only daughters, both of whom were over 20 by then)--never mind that the idea of me as a presidential candidate would have been about as credible as running Donald Trump. Oops. Hold on, there. Wait, I may have to change that line...

That last line. Thanks for the info. Howard Dean, another favorite. So economical he would go around the house turning off lights.

Being half German, half Irish I have that trait, too. My kids kill me,every light on in their big house then complain about a $400 electric bill.

At least Beto did it the old fashioned way. IIRC he has visited every county in the state. He's been doing the leg work.

I think they are exactly right, trump and cruz are corrupt as hell , serial liars , and a danger to the Republic. If anyone in Congress or this administration took any funds from putin's wealthy friends , or had it funneled to them in any way from them say using the NRA or other groups, I'd be pretty scared about now it'll all be exposed what they all have done. No one lies this much that isn't corrupt. Cruz is in deep , deep trouble if he's part of it, and so are other wealthy donors. Beto has become a huge rising star not just in Texas , but nationally people are talking about him now. His future looks very, very bright. Unless they fix this election I think Beto will win by a larger margin than expected. Too many people voting, and too many people the republicans can't stop from voting will become their nightmare.

Lindsey and many others are backing anything Trump does? They all took money funneled from Russia to the NRA.

Have you noticed how quiet NRA Leaders have been? They never had the numbers they pretended to have and are now on the verge of bankruptcy.

Ted Nugent is not really an effective spokes person.
