The military usually loves the GOP. The areas in CA that have tons of marine bases are full of this type. I taught at a school in Southern CA that had kids from "the base" and I had to interact with the parents and people with that attitude and background. When I taught 6th grade and we did a mock presidential debate with Clinton vs Dole in 1996 most of the class was on Dole's side due to their parents' influence.

graduation and expect devotion to the commander in chief...unless he's black or a democrat. If they are going to push one party over another, that's all the more reason to begin trimming their sails financially. The military budget is completely out of control. Completely. And the idea that its untouchable, is even more reason to make it 'very touchable', and start funding healthcare etc as a national defense issue. It's time.

have a smaller military budget and that way they have more money available for healthcare, education, child care, retirement, maternity leave for both sexes, etc. Not enough Americans realize that the military is taking our money out of our pockets instead of it going to our own necessities for a healthy, thriving society (like in the Nordic countries). It is the "evil socialism" nonsense that they have been conned into believing ever since Soviet Russia and communism.

The budget for the military is so vast funding healthcare alone would be hardly anything at all. It's beyond ridiculous how much is spent on that, ....and it's not going into troops and soldiers and airmans pocket book. We fund the best healthcare on earth for the military and a combination of medicare and the VA would seem like it would allow for it under the law immediately. Wth do I know though? just you and me talking.
