As of 08:30, STILL not open (should have opened at 7am). Precinct #129.
No working machines. They are telling people to come back later.
Machines were locked in a room and nobody can find key

(31,261 posts)poll monitors in place to insure daily votes get recorded properly and transmitted. When people wait, republicans play dirty trick and those tricks work to prevent people from voting.

(31,261 posts)Here in Florida, even conservative voters like early voting. Once it is in place, republicans may trim it, but they won't dare get rid of it because their own voters will revolt.

(11,899 posts)The chance to fix Detroit elections was in 2016 when voters reelected Clerk Janice Winfrey who has bungled nearly every election in some way or another. The person she beat was just elected Lt. Governor
Unless you believe that the Secretary of State is responsible for all the keys in the entire state and deliberately withheld this one from Detroit.

Doors still closed- machines - NEW MACHINES this year, do NOT work, and people are being told come back later.
Not sure if it is machine failure, or set-up failure, but it is failure.

Just enough for trump to somehow win Michigan's electoral votes.
Yeah, right.

(659 posts)We really need someone other than Janice Winfrey as City Clerk.

(46,697 posts)It shouldn't be difficult to find out who is responsible.

(659 posts)have errors and bungles things on election day. But I do question her competency on large elections/turnouts - which could also leave things open for others to screw things up. She was just re-elected in 2016 (have been the City Clerk since 2005).

(46,697 posts)get into the building and was also responsible for locking the doors, punctually at seven, or determining who made it in line before seven.
In sum, if Janice was running a tight ship she would have had a special training session for those precinct captains and they should have known where to find what they needed to run a seamless operation.

(11,899 posts)Every single election in Detroit has some ridiculous issue. I really question her competence.
These issues are 100% on Winfrey and have nothing to do with Lansing

(9,350 posts)Any chance this is one of the reasons Hillary Clinton lost Michigan in 2016. I thought there were voting problems in Detroit in 2016. How many people left the polls and then did not make it back before the polls closed? How many people had to go to work and could not get back to the polls before the polls closed?
