Tri-State area voters frustrated after being told to ‘come back in an hour’ over broken scanners and late-opening precincts

DOMINIQUE JACKSON 06 NOV 2018 AT 11:36 ET

Tri-State area voters have expressed frustration with multiple issues happening at the polls. In New York and New Jersey voters have already experienced long lines and broken ballot scanners.

“One scanner was completely fine, one was temporarily down but quickly fixed and the third and last scanner was not working at all as of 6:30,” a voter told PIX 11 News.

A voter in New Jersey said that voters were told to “come back in an hour” because the machines were not working properly.

I wish they did so there would be paper trails of all the votes, but mainly NJ uses machines that tally votes electronically with no paper trail.

Everything should be in good working order, one would think.

I am reading about voting machines as though they are just being brought up from dark and damp basements while voters are standing in line waiting while all the cobwebs and dust are being brushed off. They have bugs!

Each district should have so many voting machines for population and they should be tested and certified ahead of the election. Rich district/poor district/ red district/ blue district--same difference.
For districts that use paper ballots--there should be more than enough for the population. Extras are needed in case of error. I am sickened when I read of ballot shortages. WTF?
We need a massive overhaul.
