have seen them tabulated at NYT election tracker. Everywhere else the polls were still open.

There had been periodic controversies over whether early reporting of, say, the presidential election result has the effect of depressing voter turnout in western states, and thus affecting down-ballot races, even if the presidential election is a foregone conclusion.

Hence, the major networks voluntarily decided not to do so, but it is purely voluntary.

Part of their states are not in the same time zone but close at same time. Which is 7 pm in their little chunks of the state.

many races are simply not competitive. What’s wrong with calling the obvious races?

Monroe county (heavy Dem) ran out of ballots. Judge gave us an extension until 7 to vote. Can’t call all of IN without Monroe (home of IU)
