Yes our side did a great job preparing for this election. We were a united front against GOP's message of hate, but today's results shows us that deep down people in this country like what they are hearing from Drumpf and company.
And that's just sad. As a minority, son of immigrants, tonight's results just makes me think that tonight reinforces the idea that people in this country like what GOP is selling and agree with those ideas, and at the end of the day they want to go back to the "good old days" aka when people like me and my family would not be welcome to come here
Honestly after tonight I think I am just going to disengage from politics and start planning for a future in which having to leave this country may become a reality.
Just final words though is this site is truly amazing. Coming onto this website everyday and seeing that there are people out there who still respect human rights and believe that every person regardless of their race, religion, sex, gender, ethnicity, social status should be treated the same in this country is amazing and gave me hope everyday that perhaps there still were sane people out there. You guys all did an amazing job this election cycle rallying supporters, knocking on doors, helping spread information to uninformed voters....but unfortunately its time to accept reality that the other side is just attracting more with what they are selling.
God bless everyone. Goodnight.
EDIT: I am sorry. I wrote this negative post earlier during the night but it was just because I got extremely emotional when early races (esp in my home state of Florida) were not going our way. Democrats winning the house is huge. We must keep marching forward and more importantly remain united- that is the only way we can unseat Trump.

(7,447 posts)and at least on the surface, the economy is good. Those folks are socially conservative and more red than blue.
WHEN the economy collapses again, they will vote D like in 08, or 92, but until then, they won't.
Even with all the social issues and Trump issues, they just don't care enough to vote for change as long as their accounts are good enough.

The bulk of the people in this country are decent people.

Giving up gets you nowhere.

My God what a regrettable blunder that was.

(16,646 posts)I suspect when the night is over, more Americans will have voted for Democrats than Republicans. But between gerrymandering, and national demographics, it still leaves us governed by a minority.
