First post in a long time. Great to *see* some familiar faces around here.
I'm actually damn proud of what Democrats are doing tonight. We're running some great, young candidates and steadily clawing our country back.
And clawing is exactly what it was always going to take. Rightly so, in my opinion. Strong foundations are not built hastily. That's what Republicans have done for the past 20+ years and we're seeing tonight how difficult it has been to crack that foundation...but crack it has.
Take pride in our successes in the House. Take pride in how things are shaping up with gubernatorial races, particularly in the Midwest and heartland. And take AIM at the Senate and Presidency in future elections.
This is how we will build a foundation that will last; from the ground up, from the heart out (and coasts in). But it was never going to be easy and it was always going to take a lot of work, sweat and, yes, some tears too. But wake up tomorrow proud, reenergized and ready to get out there and work for this.

(6,390 posts)This was a mid-term where the map, for the first time in a long time, favored the incumbent President. Two years ago, Mitch McConnell was predicting a larger majority in the Senate and the GOP was thinking they had firm control over the House.
They lost the House and may have gain a seat or two in the Senate, but in the case of the Senate, the states up for this election are GOP strongholds. They were expected to do better, yet, they actually had a small chance of losing it.

(11,097 posts)We won a significant victory - maybe not a rout - but a victory.
We can celebrate tonight. Tomorrow the fight resumes.
