Rep. Dave Brat, R-7th, called Democrat Abigail Spanberger on Wednesday morning to concede defeat in their race for Congress and congratulate her, according to the Spanberger campaign.

Bolstered by suburban women and opposition to President Donald Trump's agenda, Spanberger upset Brat in the district he won four years after he had stunned House Majority Leader Eric Cantor in a Republican primary.

Brat won by 15 points two years ago.
Cantor and Bliley routinely had over 60% of the vote.

4 years ago when Brat upset Cantor there wasn't even a Dem primary (that's a big reason Brat won) and they scrambled to get someone anyone on the ballot. It just happened to be another professor from Randolph-Macon.
