(8,200 posts)While I enjoy the Florida weather, I still miss home. Colorado is a progressive state with very little racial animosity. I went to school for kindergarten to though high school in totally non-segregated classes. Our neighborhood was a nice middle class mixture of every race. We got along just great. I wish Polis the best. I met him a couple of times when I was helping out a the precinct. I assure you he is a just a genuine nine guy.

(6,137 posts)to put it in perspective, even SF never had lgbt mayor. Colorado is becoming one of the greatest states to live.

I thought Colorado was conservative.
Who would've thought?

(5,730 posts)My chosen home since 1969. Super wonderful place to live, with incredible beauty. West side is pretty conservative, East side more liberal. But, state always tries to do the right thing. First to legalize marijuana (and I'm not a user). Sometimes choices are misunderstood, but most folks look hard at issues.
My husband and I were laughing at the maps last night: A big blue rectangle in a sea of red!

(2,311 posts)Colorado's progressives cluster themselves in college towns and cities, as well as the resort areas: Boulder County, Denver County, Pitkin County, Summit County, parts of Larimer County. But even Grand Junction is becoming a hair more progressive as more millennials are moving there.

(37,648 posts)The first thing I thought of was Stepford. Do people live there? Or is it just an entertainment place, to spend the day? Creepy.

(2,311 posts)Just need a single-payer option in the state, Jared, pal. Then my Colorado PERA will be enough to hold me over til I'm 65. Make it happen, governor, and I'll be back in a heartbeat.

(3,275 posts)Colorado is looking like a good place to possibly move to. I'm tired of living in NYC and trying to pick a new place.

(13,866 posts)I have e a niece who lives in Colorado with her family. She is a teacher and votes straight Dem for that and healthcare issues.
She is not a political junkie, but keeps up with the news. I talked to he last night and she was not aware that her new Gov was gay! Apparently that wasnt a big issue in the campaign. That is encouraging news.

(44,985 posts)have been very lucky for the last 8 years with our last Governor Frackenlooper, whom I admire very much except for that one little Fracking fault. Now Governor Polis will ensure we have another great 8 years.

I love coming to visit in CO, which I do at least once a year. My baby is getting married next year after graduation and will be joining her Airman husband in Colorado Springs (scary right-wing place), so I will have more reason to visit.
SC did have its one moment last night. After every statewide office and Congressional seat went red with at least 57%, we pulled an upset in the Charleston district on the crazy woman that Trump got to primary Mark Sanford.
Several times today Ive heard amazement that we flipped seats in Utah, Kansas, Oklahoma and South Carolina.
A rare blue letter day for us.

(44,985 posts)scary right-wing as much as you have heard. Fuckus on the Famiy is here but they are a joke. There are some good Liberals here and for the most part even the conservatives aren't that bad. It's pretty much a rah rah military town.
