Sessions had said that he would NOT resign but that Trump would have to fire him. And then he resigned. Why are they all so weak? He sounded so tough and strong when he said he would not resign.. . and then tucks his tail and runs. What is wrong with them? I thought they were the party of the big, strong men.

When a President asks a cabinet officer to resign they are being fired. Submitting a resignation is just a formality that has been done in every administration. He was fired.

And he didn't. No cabinet official can defy a President and refuse to leave. They all serve at the pleasure of the President. So when asked to resign he did.
