Voter support for Wasserman Schultz foe Tim Canova plummets

U. S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Weston, was easily elected to an eighth term in the 2018 midterm elections, receiving 58.4 percent of the vote.

That’s a higher percentage of the vote than she received two years ago.

Joe Kaufman, the perennial Republican candidate, received 36 percent of the vote on Tuesday.

Tim Canova received just 4.9 percent of the vote in his second attempt to oust Wasserman Schultz. That works out to less than one vote for every 11 people who voted for the incumbent.

Her constituents are happy with her and that's the most important thing... right? Well, that... AND that we have one additional Democrat in Congress. In the face of the overwhelming and growing support DWS is receiving from her constituents, I have to wonder what good purpose it serves to denigrate and snipe at her.

All I'm trying to say here is at this troubling point in our nation's history, I think people should be happy with what we have and concentrate on more vital matters by directing their contempt toward the GOP rather than toward Democrats.

It's important to you. It's important to me. But obviously it's less important to her constituents. It serves no good purpose to take passive-aggressive swipes that insinuate she's corrupt or that there's some sort of quid pro quo that's keeping the payday lenders happy. The swipe against her that was previously posted does carefully avoid being that blunt and direct, but the underlying meaning is clear to me. All I'm saying here is that it this is just rehash of the attacks we heard before and the distrust that's created by feeding these old resentments does nothing to strengthen our party. That should be our major focus... being strong... being united... defeating the GOP and stopping their agenda.

7. Payday lenders provide a valuable service to many Floridians.

I would not use them, but lots of people here have no choice due to high bank fees, especially for those that can't keep specific balances in the accounts.

6. You need to live in Florida like I do.

Debbie realizes a needed reality. I see a lot of Florida people everyday. Once you get to know them, many don't have bank accounts because they can't afford to pay the fees. Payday lenders cash their pay checks for a defined fee, no overdraft penalties added on. That is the reality in Florida, 21 million people, many millions living hand to mouth because of inept republican leadership that many of them keep electing.

I knew Canova was a fraud from the very beginning, when he was promoting his first campaign on the radio show of right wing crazy Joyce Kaufman.

He never fooled me for a second.
