Tattooed trenchcoat-wearing decorated ex-Marine, 28, is identified as gunman who massacred twelve

Tattooed trenchcoat-wearing decorated ex-Marine, 28, is identified as gunman who massacred twelve people during student night at country bar: Suspect killed himself after hurling smoke grenades onto dance floor and slaying cop in California

Ian Long, 28, opened fire at Borderline Bar and Grill in Thousand Oaks, Southern California, at 11.20pm
He was dressed in all-black and let off at least 30 shots from a pistol with an extended magazine

Long served in the Marines for five years, was given 10 medals and toured Afghanistan between 2010 and 2011

Some of those inside were students at Pepperdine University and others are thought to have gone to California Lutheran University - both are Christian schools

The gunman who massacred 12 people at a country music bar in southern California on Wednesday night has been identified as an highly decorated ex-Marine.

Ian Long, 28, opened fire on the Borderline Bar and Grill in Thousand Oaks at 11.20pm. Long had been cleared by mental health experts after an incident in his home in April, sheriffs revealed on Thursday morning.

He killed 11 people inside the bar and one of the first cops on the scene before taking his own life.

Long's motive remains unclear but neighbors say he was known to suffer PTSD. He served in the Marines for five years between 2008 and 2013, during which time he was awarded 10 medals and toured Afghanistan.

Survivors from the shooting said he looked 'like he knew what he was doing' as he repeatedly fired his legally purchased Glock .45 handgun on Wednesday night.

Long had modified his legally purchased handgun so that it could hold more rounds.

'The handgun is designed to hold 10 rounds and one in the chamber. This weapon did have an extended magazine on it.

White American men are a bigger domestic terrorist threat than Muslim foreigners

Since Trump took office, more Americans have been killed by white American men with no connection to Islam than by Muslim terrorists or foreigners.

These people go through hell and it may come out again when they come home.

Troops today are subject to multiple tours in war zones, it has to fuck with you head majorly.

At this point, we don't know what he thought he was doing. He may have been back in that hell he came through. Our troops are badly used, including too much neglected when they come back.

7. No excuses. And at some point we have to recognize the we break these kids...

...we take an 18 year old and send him off to fight for who knows what in the sand for 5 years, expose him to who knows what kinds of emotional trauma and then leave him on his own when he gets home to integrate back into a world where every stranger isn't a potential killer.

As a society, we break them and then we toss them back into the pond and say "good f'ing luck".

Sorry - maybe too soon for a rant like this and my heart breaks for the victims. At the same time, as a society, we set the table for this kid cracking.

Maybe we learn over the next couple days that he spent his youth skinning animals and waving a gun around at school. I'll retract. But we're just as likely to start hearing stories that he was just a normal kid who signed up.

At some point, we're going to have to face up to the fact that, as a country, our #1 export is really war and it's killing us both literally and figuratively.

9. This is why if you must have a war you damn well better get it over ASAP

When these people come home nobody gives a damn about their problems.

There's more economic refugees in Trump's Amerikkka to plug in behind them.

The wars never end equals $$$$$$$ for the GOP MIC, fuck the human cost!

Use em up and toss them out into a gun crazed society where anyone can buy a military designed weapon of mass destruction and see what happens.

What could possibly go wrong?

Oh wait...

In Vietnam you did one tour and if you survived that was the only one.

Many Vietnam vets suffered from PTSD from that one tour.

Imagine doing three or four or more tours in a war zone, that's what happens now.

Nah... who am I kidding. You'll dance so hard a hip could get displaced before supporting your argument with evidence. I should know better by now.

Smells to me like another Manchurian Candidate. I wonder if the press can confirm exactly he was trained / possibly programmed.
